In the spring of 2015, there were two devastating earthquakes of 7.8 and 7.3 on the Richter scale and later there waere thousands of replicas during the past year. According to official figures, there were 8.712 deaths, 22.495 injured and more than 3.000.000 homeless people.
Nepal before the earthquake was already a country with social needs and suffered in many areas of poverty. But due to this devastating catastrophe there was extreme emergency in different regions where many associations and NGOs started to help together in Nepal.
Homeless people had to leave their villages and moved to temporary camps. Camps built with plastic, bamboo and metal plates. they are still waiting for solutions to rebuild their own homes.
This is the case of Umesh and his family. They live in Champi (Laltipur), a rural area where communication is complicated. Their houses were demolished with the first earthquake in April 2015.
First NGOs supplied them with lastic and bamboo and formed a small field with a roof with a few families. They even had to sleep on the ground. A few month later, the same association provided them with "policlin" temporary toilets for the fcity, and now, after 3 years, they still live with temporary houses of sheet metal, plastic and bamboo, together with other families.
